Kindergeld (child benefit)

When is Kindergeld paid? Payment dates 2026

Antragscenter is a private form-filling and translation service, not a public authority.

The Familienkasse does not pay Kindergeld and Kinderzuschlag to everyone on the same day, but according to the last digit of the child benefit reference number.

With last digit 0 the money arrives at the start of the month, with last digit 9 at the end.

Choose your last digit: below it you will see this month's date and all dates of the year.

Last digit of your child benefit reference number

Where the last digit is

The child benefit reference number has the letters FK in the middle. What counts is the last digit — in this example, 9:

xxxFKxxxxx9

When the money is in your account

According to the Familienkasse, the amount is credited to the account during the day of the transfer. At weekends and on public holidays the payment may arrive later. There is no right to payment on a particular day. Kindergeld and Kinderzuschlag are paid by bank transfer, not in cash.

The first payment

For the first payment, the Familienkasse pays the full monthly amount, even if the conditions were only met on the last day of the month. For a child born on 30 March, for example, the full Kindergeld is paid for March.

No money received?

The Familienkasse also gives the dates by phone. The number is on its page about the payment dates: Payment dates at the Familienkasse

Do not confuse

Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld) is paid by the Jobcenter. The table does not apply to these payments.
