Grundsicherungsgeld
Bürgergeld with a child — which annexes do I need?
For every child under fifteen an annex KI belongs in the form set.
From fifteen the annex WEP takes its place, and an annex EK for that person's income is added.
If one of the child's parents lives outside the household, the annex UH3 is added.
Why age determines the sheet
The annex KI asks about what concerns a child: school, health insurance through a parent, own income such as maintenance or an orphan's pension. The annex WEP asks about what concerns the person themselves from fifteen — fitness for work, training, previous employment. That is why age decides, and not which sheet one would rather fill in.
The annex EK only comes from fifteen
For children under fifteen there is no annex EK. Their own income — maintenance, Kindergeld, an orphan's pension, interest — stands in annex KI. From fifteen the income is recorded on a sheet of its own, even if it is nil.
If one parent lives outside the household
Then the Jobcenter examines the child maintenance and requires the annex UH3 for it. It asks about both parents, about the acknowledgement of paternity and about whether maintenance or an advance payment from the youth welfare office is being paid. This also applies to young adults under twenty-five in the household.
What the standard need means for children
For children and adolescents there are standard need levels of their own, graded by age. The amounts and the age brackets are on the Grundsicherungsgeld page. What is approved in the end the Jobcenter calculates from the details in the application.
The additional need for single parents
Anyone living alone with a child has an additional need on top of the standard need (§ 21 paragraph 3 SGB II). Its size depends on how many children live in the household and how old the youngest is; an upper limit applies to the total. The percentages are on the Grundsicherungsgeld page. The additional need is ticked in the main application, not on the child's annex.
What is added for school
For school books, school materials, lunch at school and taking part in social life there are needs of their own. The annex KI asks about them, and the supporting documents that belong with it — a school certificate, the receipts for materials — belong in the form set. Part of these benefits is applied for separately; the decision notice says which.
What that costs
One price for the whole set — no matter how many people live in your household and how many sheets that produces. The sample calculations are on the page about Grundsicherungsgeld.
